Viewpoints, Characterful Villages, Beaches & Traditional Coastal Harbours

We have included a number of lovely villages, locations you can visit with wonderful viewpoints. These include walks with spectacular 360 degree views and Instagram photo opportunities such as Sutton Bank, Danbury Beacon, Carlton Bank, Hole of Horcum, National Trust’s Rievaulx Terrace and the delightfully named Roseberry Topping.

The Yorkshire coast has some ‘not to be missed’ towns, fishing harbours, beaches and visitor attractions. Wander the cobbled streets of Whitby and take the 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey or enjoy a day out at the beach at Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes or Saltburn.

There are also various wonderful locations in the North York Moors National Park and visitor centres which are popular to go for a walk, explore and take a picnic.

Guest Favourites & Local Recommendations

Many of the listings are guest favourites and our own local recommendations. If guests are keen to explore some good places to eat and drink There are a number of excellent local village pubs, popular restaurants, great cafes and tearooms. We are very lucky to have two Michelin Star restaurants on our doorstep, The Star Inn and The Pheasant Inn.

We have probably missed a few local hidden gems but will keep updating the map with new and latest ‘eat and drink’ options and additional places of interest.
